Walked past this bar, food advertised looked nice so walked in with my husband and daughter for lunch, at 2pm, found a table, sat down. My husband went up to the bar to order and the woman looked down and shouted at my daughter, ‘Is she over 18? She can’t eat here.’ My daughter was mortified. We got up and left. I’ve travelled to many countries with my daughter and this has never happened anywhere before. Maybe next time a Scottish adult walks into my pub in Ireland, I’ll shout at them, ‘Are you Scottish? you can’t eat here.’ See how they like it. What utterly, utterly, appalling bad manners!! Edinburgh really needs to take a long hard look at its pub scene!

The Bow Bar was our 13th stop in a tour of over 17 pubs around Edinburgh. Here we sampled 1/2 of IPA #21, and a 1/2 of IPA #8, and an Edinburgh No. 3, all very numerical.

The bar staff member who served us was pretentious, condescending and rude when we asked for whiskey recommendations. I wouldn’t recommend.

Quería beber whisky. Me recomendaron este bar en el Free Tour que hicimos nada más llegar a la ciudad. Así que entré. Pregunté cuál de las decenas de botellas me recomendaban. El amable y cortés chico de la barra me puso un vaso de una variedad tradicional escocesa (5£ costó el vaso). Me lo bebí y salí del pub profundamente satisfecho.

Charming, fun, yet very professional staff with my man Kieran really knowing his stuff. Amazing selection of whiskey. This place felt more like where locals go moreso than tourists.

Amazing pub !! Totally a must !! The staff is very polite and helpful. They have a Big variety of whisky and local beers . I truly recommend it.
